This year, The Great Women Portrait Project is creating 'speaking portraits' to share with students, teachers, and schools.

But the Project began back in 2023, with Canadian women (starting in Nova Scotia) commissioning portraits for public and professional spaces that honoured little-known, historic women who paved pioneering paths in traditionally male-dominated fields like STEM.

Below: a few highlights from over the years.

+ ASTRAZENECA CFO Aradhana Sarin and Great Women Portrait Project creator Jo Napier talk art, Great Women of STEM and ways to break down gender bias on "In Conversation With..." podcast

+ Sanofi Pharmaceuticals, Astrazeneca Canada and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission - among others - commission great women of STEM portraits.

+Lockheed Martin Canada hangs Great Women portrait prints of pioneering STEM women in offices across Canada.

+  More than 30 leaders in Canada's energy industry are honouring an unsung STEM innovator - nuclear physicist Harriet Brooks - in offices in Canada and the U.S.

(photos below)

+ Great Women of STEM portraits and prints are hung in hospitals, medical and engineering schools and libraries.

BELOW: CEOS collaborate to honour Canadian pioneer and celebrate great girls & women in STEM

On the International Day of the Girl, female CEOs in Canada's nuclear energy industry celebrated girls and women in STEM by honouring in portrait STEM pioneeer and Canada's first female nuclear physicist, Harriet Brooks. (Brook's original oil portrait now hangs at CNSC headquarters, and portrait prints of Brooks now hang in energy industry offices across the country.)
